Breast Lift Houston
As we age, our body gradually sags, and the breasts can be affected as well. Fortunately, a breast lift (or mastopexy) can restore your breasts’ an attractive and youthful shape.
The goal of a breast lift is to move the nipple and breast tissue to a higher level on your chest so that the nipple will lie at the desired level above the breast fold. The skin below the nipple may be tightened or removed to achieve a more youthful shape.
Depending on your breasts, a breast lift can be done with or without a saline or silicone breast implant for breast enlargement or augmentation. Sometimes, a proper lift may be achieved with placement of an implant alone.
There are many types and approaches to achieve a proper breast lift. The right one for you can be identified at a consultation with Dr. Lou.
Women are unaware that there are procedures other than breast enlargement or reduction surgeries that can dramatically alter the shape and size of their breasts. Procedures like a breast lift, for example, are relatively simple but can significantly alter the appearance of a woman’s breasts.
Breast lifts are conducted as outpatient procedures and typically use either local or general anesthesia. The placement and design of the incision may vary, but most often a Breast lift includes an incision around the nipple-areolar complex as well as in the crease under the breast.
The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher on the breast, while any excess skin is removed and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a normal position. Depending on the specific situation, an implant may or may not be advised.
Recuperation and Healing
After the procedure, you can return home the same day in a bra with only light dressings over the incision locations. The bra acts as a “dressing” for approximately 2-3 weeks. After a 2-3 week period, sutures can usually be completely removed.
Any initial discomfort that you experience after the surgery will be controlled with oral medication. Light activities can usually be started 7-10 days after the procedure takes place.
A breast lift can provide you with a more youthful and elevated breast contour. Additionally, it can provide you with nipple-areolar complexes of the desired size at the correct height.
Depending on your specific situation, Dr. Lou may advise a breast reduction or enlargement in addition to or in place of a breast lift. Decisions like these will be discussed during your consultation.
Any risks that you might face during breast lift surgery can only be determined during a personal consultation, as risk factors vary from person to person. While major complications are rare, minor complications do take place occasionally that do not affect the outcome.
