EMSCULPT in Houston, TX

What is EMSCULPT?

EMSCULPT is a new non-surgical treatment using state-of-the-art technology to tone muscle and reduce some fat. This body sculpting technology tones large muscle groups without the use of surgery. Patients not only enjoy these visually pleasing results, but they also gain muscle strength and stamina in the treated area for increased athletic performance.

LouMD Med Spa located in Houston, Texas now proudly features EMSCULPT technology in addition to our long line of services that help our clients feel and look their best. We take pride in standing out from other medical spas with superior customer experiences and top-rated technology.

Enhanced Results with EMSCULPT

Here at LouMD Med Spa, we understand how hard you work to achieve the results you crave. Sometimes, no matter how many lunges you do or crunches you perform, you just can’t attain the definition you want. This is where our Houston EMSCULPT shines.

EMSCULPT targets deep into the body to provide 100% muscle contraction beyond what you can achieve in the gym. A quick 30-minute treatment builds muscle and burns fat to create the firm and defined silhouette you desire. A single session can help you achieve a rounder, perkier butt with the same effect of about 20,000 squats, all without surgery or any downtime whatsoever. The FDA-cleared EMSCULPT device allows you to accomplish results beyond what you get through rigorous training.

The Science Behind EMSCULPT

Using non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology, EMSCULPT is the first FDA-cleared body contouring device that burns fat while simultaneously building muscle mass. It does this by using High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy. This type of energy induces supramaximal muscle contractions that are simply not achievable through physical training. These contractions yield better muscle tone as well as enhanced fat metabolism all without pain, surgery, or downtime.

As muscles are exposed to HIFEM energy, they change and adapt to the extreme stimulation. This results in increased toning and shaping as well as fat loss in the treated area. A single 30-minute session can equal roughly 20,000 squats and crunches. These results are backed by several clinical studies. During and after these sessions, muscle fibers multiply and grow. Study subjects noticed an average of a 16% increase in muscle thickness as well as a reduction in fat of about 19% after only four treatments.

Each session lasts about thirty minutes. During this time the clients will lie comfortably on their backs or stomachs. The procedure is completely safe and leaves the skin untouched as it stimulates the muscles within the body.

In addition to those clients wishing to obtain a certain look, EMSCULPT goes beyond appearances. It can also help post-surgery patients who are unable to exercise normally after their operation. These patients normally experience some degree of decreased strength and muscle wasting. It’s not uncommon for patients who’ve undergone surgery often also lose core strength during their recovery when movement is restricted. EMSCULPT can help restrengthen the core to help improve posture and decrease back pain that typically occurs after an operation.

EMSCULPT Process

There is no special preparation required before an EMSCULPT treatment. Muscles in the treatment area will strongly contract during the EMSCULPT procedure.

Once you’re laying down comfortably, the technician will place the EMSCULPT paddles on the targeted muscle group. The paddles will be strapped on to the treatment area to ensure they don’t move around during the session. If the treatment targets your buttocks, hamstrings, or calves, then you’ll relax face-down on the table during your treatment. If treatment targets your quadriceps, abdomen, biceps, or triceps, then you’ll relax face-up on the table.

During an EMSCULPT session, various modes of intensity will be used to produce several cycles of muscle contractions at comfortable levels. Many patients listen to music, watch television, or take a nap during the session. The machine will cycle through different phases of supramaximal contractions and a resting phase of contractions or “tapping.” The cool-down phase breaks up the lactic acid released by the muscles to drastically reduce soreness once your treatment is finished.

Benefits of EMSCULPT

EMSCULPT is great when it comes to helping clients treat stubborn body fat and get the sculpted look they desire. Clients report reduced fat, improved muscle tone, smoother skin contours, and improvement in toning and sculpting beyond what they’ve been able to achieve with their regular fitness routine.

In addition to client testimonials, there have been several studies analyzing the effectiveness of EMSCULPT when it comes to increasing muscle mass and burning fat. Muscle and fat were measured with CT scans and MRI studies to examine how effective EMSCULPT was at increasing muscle while decreasing fat. In addition, photos and measurements were compared before and after treatment. On average, patients experienced:

  1. Reduction of fat in the targeted area by 19%

  2. Muscle mass increase in the targeted area of 16%

  3. A 1.5-inch reduction in waistline circumference

  4. An 11% reduction in abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti)

  5. Fat metabolism increase of 5x

  6. 80% of patients had visible lifting of the buttocks

  7. Overall, 96% patient satisfaction

The results of the study indicate that EMSCULPT does in fact eliminate stubborn fat cells while building muscle mass. It also had the added effect of improving posture due to strengthened muscles and reduced back pain. The EMSCULPT device is the only non-invasive device that both strengthens muscle and removes overlying fat.

Are You a Candidate for EMSCULPT?

If you’re interested in trying EMSCULPT then speak to the professionals at LouMD Med Spa to learn more about Houston EMSCULPT sessions.

The best EMSCULPT candidates are adults who are already active and in good shape but want more toning or definition. If you’re physically active and follow a healthy lifestyle, but just can’t get that six-pack you’ve been wanting or want to give your buttocks a boost, then you could be the perfect EMSCULPT candidate.

It should be noted that EMSCULPT is not suitable for those who have a history of heart disease, have a pacemaker, have implanted metal within their body, or have cardiac defibrillators. It’s also not suitable for women who may be pregnant or are confirmed to be pregnant.

EMSCULPT works best in conjunction with your current fitness regime. Individuals who continued to exercise after their treatment had the longest-lasting results. This non-invasive plastic surgery alternative does not require anesthesia or recovery time. Instead, it’s a great option for those wanting to further tone and sculpt their body or those who are suffering from Diastasis Recti, gaps between abdominal muscles due to pregnancy.

EMSCULPT FAQs

Questions about EMSCULPT sessions in Houston, Texas.

Is EMSCULPT Safe?

Yes. The FDA has cleared EMSCULPT for the toning and sculpting of abdominal muscles, strengthening the buttocks and abdominals, as well as for toning and strengthening the arms, thighs, and buttocks. The focused electromagnetic energy is considered safe and causes little to no soreness.

How long are EMSCULPT treatments?

Individual sessions last about 30 minutes. The average treatment plan consists of four of these sessions. Sessions are typically two times a week for two weeks or once per week. However, we take the time to create a personalized plan for each patient depending on their needs and goals.

What does EMSCULPT feel like?

An EMSCULPT session will feel like a series of strong muscle contractions. It’s not uncommon for patients to smile or laugh during the first few minutes. However, afterward, the body adapts to the contraction rhythm. EMSCULPT is generally easily tolerated.

The procedure doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort. Some patients describe the muscle contractions as intense. Others who may have scar tissue in the treatment area have commented that the contractions are marginally uncomfortable.

What does EMSCULPT recovery feel like?

EMSCULPT patients can resume normal activities right away. It is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure with no downtime or recovery time. It only uses a handheld paddle placed over your skin. While you may experience some mild soreness, you should be able to return to regular activities right away.

How quickly can I see the EMSCULPT results?

Some patients state that they notice increased muscle tone the following day. You’ll likely experience posture improvements and decreased exercise fatigue quickly. Most clients notice changes within a few days of their treatment that continue to improve over several months after their last treatment. At around two months after completing the 4-part treatment, most patients experience a 16% increase in the muscle mass of the targeted area, along with a 19% reduction in fat in the same area. Clinical studies show that results continue to improve for up to six months.

Where can I use EMSCULPT?

EMSCULPT targets large muscle areas such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and arms. Some clients choose to target more than one area each visit for optimum results.

Does EMSCULPT help with diastasis recti?

Yes. Research indicates an 11% reduction following four EMSCULPT treatments. Diastasis recti is a separation of the abdominal muscles, most often caused by pregnancy when the womb stretches the abdominal muscles and leaves gaps. In some extreme cases, diastasis recti can cause a bulging of abdominal tissues or a midline hernia. EMSCULPT is the first non-surgical option when it comes to improving diastasis recti.

How long do EMSCULPT results last?

Increased muscle mass and fat loss are not permanent unless maintained with lifestyle choices, exercise, and a healthy diet. However, in most cases, the results last six months to a year. Periodic maintenance EMSCULPT treatments can help maintain muscle tone for longer periods of time. It’s encouraged that all patients maintain diet and exercise to maximize results.

Is EMSCULPT a TENS device?

No. TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) devices create small amounts of electrical energy to stimulate muscle contraction. These devices are used to treat pain. HIFEM (high intensity focused electromagnetic) energy is what is used with EMSCULPT. This is an extremely powerful device capable of creating a supraphysiologic muscle contraction. It is much more powerful than a TENS device.

How does EMSCULPT compare to other methods of fat reduction?

EMSCULPT is a non-surgical way to get definition and toning in the abs, buttocks, and other places without pain or downtime. Here are some other common procedures so you can see how EMSCULPT is different.

Cryolipolysis – Often called coolsculpting, this method of non-invasive fat removal actually freezes the fat which results in fat cell death and elimination. While it is non-invasive and can reduce unwanted fat, it does not provide the muscle-building EMSCULPT does. In addition, each cryolipolysis session lasts one hour and requires a follow-up massage. This treatment option can cause discomfort.

Vanquish-ME – This method of fat removal uses heat to cause the permanent removal of unwanted fat. It is most commonly used by individuals struggling with stubborn fat areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. This procedure can be done in combination with EMSCULPT. Patients with higher BMI would first do Vanquish sessions to de-bulk and then follow up with EMSCULP for enhanced results.

Liposuction – A minimally-invasive surgical procedure performed under tumescent anesthesia. This removes the unwanted fat that has been unresponsive to diet and exercise. This procedure can remove large volumes of fat in a single treatment but there is some downtime, and it does not build muscle the way EMSCULPT does. EMSCULPT can enhance lipo results by helping build muscle after fat is removed.

Who Should Use EMSCULPT?

People who are already close to their goal body are great candidates for EMSCULPT as are those who wish to tighten and tone a specific muscle group but have been unable to do so with their standard routine.

Patients who have higher levels of fat may not be ideal candidates. As a result, those with more fat may not experience deep muscle contraction and experience lesser results.

Women close to menstruation may experience intensified cramping. It is recommended that you schedule your appointment with this in mind. In addition, anyone with one of the following conditions will want to speak with our staff to find out if they can be considered for treatment:

  • Metal or electronic implants in the treatment area

  • Drug pumps

  • Malignant tumor

  • Hemorrhagic Conditions

  • Epilepsy

  • Recent Surgery
